Decorating with Faux Fur - A Guest Post

I was recently contacted by Arcadian Lighting to feature one of their writers on my blog.  Given the choice of topics I went with "Faux Fur."   After our recent heat wave I may have reconsidered my decision, but these images definitely have me thinking of cooler weather and introducing layers back into my home.  Enjoy!

If you have misgivings about using real fur in your home there are many quite lovely faux fur products available. From plump pillows to deep piled rugs, there are plenty of ways to work fur into your decor.  Take a look at some of my favorite faux fur items.

   

Fur throws are one of the most common ways to introduce faux fur into your decor. They add both texture and pattern to a space.

   

A funky eclectic dining room featured in Rue Magazine boasts a thick white shag rug under modern chairs a rustic wood dining table. A light fixture added here would sure do wonders for the room.

 

I wouldn’t mind working from an office with this incredibly inviting fur encased chair. It looks very Scandinavian.

 

A ghost chair and bench get their very own touch of fur from small throws. The soft colors in this dining room are quite lovely and the fur just blends right in.

 

Imagine curling up with this welcoming throw and spending the afternoon with a favorite book or watching old movies.

 

Faux fur can be found on upholstered pieces, pillows and a range of other products. This classic living room reflects some of the many options.

   

This petite fur “chair” would look lovely in an eclectic space with its unique shape. Add a light fixture close at hand and you have the perfect reading nook.

 

I cheated on this one, this is real fur featured in a Scandinavian dining room, but it could be done in faux furs.
